同是奇瑞旗下的捷途品牌在成功把首款车型X70推向销量TOP榜后，奇瑞在瑞虎车系更迭出新的速度也加快了，毕竟比捷途品牌定位稍高的瑞虎在定价策略上并没有太多优势，因此奇瑞在对瑞虎的打造上，更加注重精致、现代的元素。
有了中期改款瑞虎8的成功设计，这一次稍小一点的紧凑级SUV瑞虎7自然秉承大哥的设计思路，从预告图来看，新车在前部家族刻画上又有了新的升级，六边形前进气格栅尺寸与横向设计头灯完全相连，使之有不错的运动更精神，但这样的设计也跟VV5设计有些雷同。
从侧面来看，其造型也与现款车有明显差别，一条平直腰线贯穿车身更显修长，悬浮式车顶加入使得车辆的层次感更加分明。根据此前的申报图信息来看，全新瑞虎7的长宽高为4500/1842/1746mm，轴距为2670mm。
车尾相对于车头部分新意就没那么足了，突出的连体式尾灯还是跟瑞虎8一样布置在后风挡下方，尾部镀铬标识采用了全镀铬设计，并安排在LOGO正下方，这倒是有着跟大众异曲同工之妙感觉。
动力方面，全新瑞虎7提供1.5T/1.6T两种动力车型。其中，1.5T车型搭载SQRE4T15C型1.5T发动机，最大功率156马力；1.6T（290TGDI）车型搭载SQRF4J16型1.6T发动机，最大功率197马力。
虽然还是围绕10万级SUV做文章，但瑞虎7在品质感上已经不弱于吉利、长安了，加上瑞虎7在动力方面全部采用自主高热效率发动机，因此三大件更有保障，毕竟捷途X70以及瑞虎8目前市场已经有了不俗保有量，瑞虎7推出很容易就能被用户所接受。
