据外媒报道，美国普度大学（Purdue University）研发出一项新电动汽车技术，结合电池、氢能，提高能量密度，仅仅需要快速补充电池液就可以让乘用车续航达到5000公里以上！
该技术使用专利“液流”系统，通过电池液产生电力，为车辆提供电力，驱动车辆行驶，同时可根据需求产生氢能。位于印第安波利斯的普渡大学正在用高尔夫球车，对该技术进行测试。
专利“液流”系统与苏格兰 “液流电池”系统类似，液流电池系统通过使用薄膜让离子通过两个单独的电池液容器，而“液流”系统没有薄膜，仅使用一个电池液容器。
美国普渡大学地球、大气、行星科学杰出教授、数学教授John Cushman表示：“单电池液系统可实现更大的能量密度，这意味着可为电动车提供更轻、续航里程更长的电池，液流系统的出现可以使电动汽车成为燃油车的有力竞争者。”
“液流”系统产生的氢气，可以以更低压力进行储蓄。目前该系统已在小型摩托车、高尔夫球车等车型上进行测试。基于该技术进一步发展，研究人员有信心通过这项技术让电动汽车续航里程达到4800-5800公里。“液流”系统充能方式，是在车辆行驶480公里左右时，需停下来更换电解液，就像给燃油车加油一样。无需像现在的电动汽车一样，充电30-120分钟。研究人员表示：“该系统可能让部分地区加油站配备加液器以及更换电池液服务，因为电动汽车一旦行驶大约5000公里，电池阳极耗尽时，则需要更换电池液。更换电池液耗时与加油时间相同，费用大约在65美元左右（约440元人民币）。”
