2019年将是梅赛德斯-奔驰“插电式混合动力年”，为年底前推出10款EQ品牌的电动化车型做准备。
像C级，E级和S级这样的车型已经提供了一个电气化动力系统，三车配备最大功率89kW的电动机，纯电续航里程可达50公里。
这家德国汽车制造商将在GLC和GLE 的基础上扩大其插电式混合动力车型的范围，包括新A级，它将把1.3T的四缸汽油发动机和90马力的电动机结合在一起，同样的动力系统将提供在B级和即将到来的GLB SUV车型上。
梅赛德斯-奔驰计划到2022年使整个范围贯通，并将分为三个不同的类别：48V轻混车型，插电式混合动力车型和纯电EQ车型。梅赛德斯动力系统战略负责人克劳斯·埃勒斯(Claus Ehler)表示，电动汽车在市场上的发展速度还不确定，这意味着内燃机驱动汽车在未来仍将扮演重要角色。
梅赛德斯-奔驰预计，到2025年，电动汽车和PHEV合计将占其总销量的40%左右。根据电动汽车的购买率，这家德国制造商估计，到那时，全电动车型将占其总销量的15%至25%。
