今年4月的时候，福特宣布向电动皮卡汽车公司 Rivian 投资 5 亿美 元，用于制造一款全新的电动车辆。福特公司计划利用 Rivian 的“skateboard”平台研发一款新车型，作为其已有电动车系列发展计划的一个备份。这个平台仔细看比较有意思：
Rivian的设计思路也是从21700电芯入手，主要的方案是采用三明治的方式，这算是从特斯拉的迭代设计中采取一种不一样的路径，通过两个模组上下单面冷却，模组之间采用一块大的冷板。如下图所示，这里的电芯下面是倒着放的。
电芯先做成单块模组
然后如下图所示，实际的模组的高度比较高，等于把两块21700的模组复合在了一起。
模组的正面是模组的输出线排，通过快插连接器进行桥接
在模组的另一面则把上下母线排通过母线排进行连接。
用21700，Rivian做电芯测试相对更容易一些。
通过这种大的模组，Rivian可以组成很大的的电池系统，按照现在的规格为135kwh和180kwh两种配置，主要用于纯电动的皮卡和大型的SUV。
小结：跟随着特斯拉做皮卡，后面这种属于美式超豪华，动辄130kwh甚至更大的电池系统的出现让我们看到了更大的电动玩具的可能性
