发动机就像人的心脏，一旦出现问题，汽车就不能工作，所以发动机的维护是非常重要的。许多开车坏习惯会损坏发动机，所以平时对于发动机的维护比较重要。怎样说明车子的性能比较好呢？怎样正确判断发动机的好坏？老司机：车速达到120，不超过这个转速。
转速是证明汽车性能的参考数据之一，他也是发动机的有效功率。之前那一直有人说要证明这辆车性能是否良好，就看他的转速，发动机转速越高，它将运行的次数越多。老司机说这种判断的方式并不科学。当发动机达到一定速度后，性能好不好不应取决于转速有多高，而是看转速有多低，这样的得出的数据才是对的。
修车师傅说，价格不一样的汽车的性能一定不同。120可以作为一个比较好的参照数据，在大家车子的速度达到120时候，一般来说价位在一百万左右的车子转速会较小，五十万的车子最低转速是2100，十万元左右的车子转速大概在2300.由此看来高档车确实好一点，贵有贵的道理，当然这也不是绝对性的。
老司机说，当车速度已经是120了，如果这个时候转速在是2300-2600的范围内，就说明车的性能还是不错的。不过要是车速超过此范围时，驾驶员可能会发现轮胎的抓地力变差，会有飘的感觉车子会不稳定，发动机噪音会很大。虽然此时汽车不会有任何问题，还是说明了不同车子间的发动机差距很大。
