日前海外媒体曝光了一组大众探歌R实车图片。外观方面，新车前脸采用上下分体式进气格栅造型，上方格栅为多横幅金属镀铬设计，车身侧面配备熏黑多辐式铝合金轮毂，尾门上方配有小尺寸扰流板，下方为双边双出式排气布局。待新车上市后将与奥迪SQ2、奔驰GLA 45、MINI JCW等同级性能SUV车型展开竞争。
动力方面，新车将搭载一台2.0T涡轮增压引擎，最大功率211kW，峰值扭矩400N.M，传动系统匹配7速双离合变速箱，并配备四驱系统，其中该款发动机峰值扭矩已超越奥迪S3的380N.M。内饰方面，新车配备三辐式多功能方向盘，并搭载了全尺寸液晶仪表盘以及大尺寸中控屏幕。
